Accessibility Statement
Small Hands Project is committed to making our website accessible to everyone, including people with visual, auditory, motor, or cognitive disabilities. Our mission is to support early childhood education for displaced, migrant, and underserved communities — and we believe accessibility is a core part of that mission, not an afterthought.
Our target standard
We are working toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. This is a widely recognized standard for making web content usable by the broadest possible range of people, and we've chosen it as our goal because it directly supports the needs of our audience: educators often using older devices, slower connections, and a wide range of languages and literacy levels.
Where we are today
Small Hands Project is run entirely by volunteers, with no dedicated funding. We are actively and incrementally improving accessibility across the site, including:

Adding descriptive alternative text to images

Reviewing and correcting color contrast

Improving heading structure and page organization

Ensuring keyboard navigation works throughout the site, including interactive elements

Reviewing multilingual content for accessibility across all supported languages
We have not yet achieved full conformance with WCAG 2.1 AA, and we want to be transparent about that. Accessibility is an ongoing process for us, and we are committed to continuous improvement as our volunteer capacity allows.
